For years, San Diego’s Port and Coast Guard have waged a battle against each other on which vessels are permitted to charter. As the current ordinance stands, only vessels who can comply with certain strict regulations are allowed to charter and are required to pay fees to the Port of San Diego.
Recently, the Board of Port Commissioners announced that they will consider an amended charter vessel ordinance. The proposed draft ordinance would create an even playing field by allowing most boat owners to obtain permits to charter their vessels.
Once the new ordinance has passed, Seaforth Boat Rentals will be able to assist in the following areas:
Obtaining the appropriate charter permit and insurance
Complying with local and Coast Guard regulations
Compliance with local and coast guard regulations.
Understanding and complying with Jones Act regulations
Locating permitted pick up and landing locations
Complying with reporting and manifest issues as required by the permit
Screening of potential renters / charters
Crew placement
Booking and payment
